At 58 years old I sat in my orthopedic surgeon’s office to have my 10-day checkup after having a total knee replacement due to arthritis. As we sat looking at his notes, he looked me in the eye and told me what I already knew; that I was living on medications to control my life. He challenged me to eliminate or at least reduce the high blood pressure and diabetes medications.  I joined a fitness center while rehabbing my knee. As part of my package I had a free session with a personal trainer. I can only imagine the thoughts that went through the trainers’ head as he looked at overweight, aging man. The trainer gave me a plan and with his encouragement in six months I was able to shed 30 pounds.  The best part was seeing my surgeon at my six-month check up. Not only was I 30 pounds lighter but I was off blood pressure meds and reduced my diabetic meds as well. Regular training became a part of my life and eventually my vocation.  At the onset I would never have believed that I could transform my life and lifestyle.  Helping others meet their goals has now become one of my passions.

As a father of three children and four grandchildren I look forward to enjoying a more active involvement than once was possible.  Scouting has been and still is a large part of my life.  I earned my Eagle and have been active with the Scouts for 12 years.  I’ve been Assistant Scoutmaster at Troop 100 in Lilburn for the past 8 years.  My wife and I enjoy backpacking and camping.  We met and spent many years doing volunteer work at the Reece Center for Handicapped Horsemanship, where my wife was volunteer coordinator.  I am a journeyman tool and die maker and enjoyed many years in the field.  Hobbies include woodworking, knife-making and model trains.

Dave, now 62, enjoys sharing with others what he’s learned through his own experiences with knee and back injuries and how diet can make a huge difference in the medications you take. He trains clients both one-on-one and in small weight training groups on weekday mornings. He always greets you with a smile, he’s genuinely invested in the health of his clients and if you are an early riser – he’s your guy!
